A LIBRARY THAT FEELS LIKE YOURS

Your photographs.
Easier to find.

Keep the folders you already have. PhotoFindry brings their photographs together with the clues that help you find one again.

01

Start with what you know.

Search a filename straight away. As your photographs are described, look for a scene, an object or a small detail you remember.

“The red bicycle by the sea”
02

Ask for a closer search.

When a simple search is not enough, choose Local AI Search. It reviews saved details, shows candidates as it works and lets you pause or stop. On Mac, make a Showcase lens from a few of your best photos and your own words, and see the library through it.

A second look, or your own lens.
03

Put names to faces.

PhotoFindry checks new and retagged photos for faces locally. Name one clear face to find confident matches; review uncertain suggestions and correct names across your library.

For the people in the picture.
04

Follow the other clues.

Use recorded GPS, capture time, camera or lens to narrow your search. Nearby-city labels are resolved locally, with no maps API or location upload.

The where. The when. The 50 mm.
05

Keep your own arrangement.

Add folders without moving originals. PhotoFindry checks returning drives and verified folder moves in the background, keeping saved details and your own pauses.

Your folders stay your folders.
06

Take the library with you.

Prepare offline previews for a drive you unplug. Export a library backup on Mac, Linux or Windows. Scoped source archives remain available on Mac. Bring the original photographs along separately.

Saved details travel. Originals stay yours.

PERSONAL PHOTOS. PERSONAL SPACE.

Your memories
stay with you.

Descriptions and search run on your computer. People is available on Mac and Linux. Your originals remain in the folders and drives you choose, and you decide when to prepare previews for offline browsing.

FROM FOLDERS TO FOUND

Make room for
the good finds.

  1. 01

    Choose your folders.

Getting Started walks you through adding photographs. They stay in the folders where you put them.

  2. 02

    Add a local vision model.

Supply a compatible vision model and matching projector. Start tagging when you are ready; the app saves descriptions as it works.

  3. 03

    Find your way back.

Search filenames, then saved scenes, people and photo details. Open a result and see where the original lives.

A FEW THINGS YOU MIGHT WONDER

Good questions.
Simple answers.

When can I try PhotoFindry?

The free beta is available now. Install the beta 7 CLI companion, read the installation guide and begin with a small photo folder. It is early software; keep independent backups.

Which computers will it run on?

Apple silicon Macs with macOS 14+, Linux x86_64 with systemd user services, and Windows 10/11 x64. Mac Core ML ranking requires macOS 15. People is available on Mac and Linux; Windows has no face provider yet. Vision model choice and performance depend on available memory and hardware. See the installation guide for platform prerequisites and tested limits.

Do my photographs go to a cloud AI service?

PhotoFindry’s tagging, face matching and search run locally on your computer. You choose where your original files live. Compatible vision model files are supplied separately, so you will need to get them during setup.

Do I need a subscription or a separate AI server?

PhotoFindry is free to use, without an AI subscription. Choose a compatible vision model and its matching projector; the app includes and manages the local runtime. You don’t need to install a separate server or developer tools.

What is a Showcase lens?

Your own taste, written down. Pick a few photos you are proud of, write what makes them your best work and PhotoFindry turns it into rules it checks on measured previews and saved descriptions, using your local tagging model once. Choose the lens beside Local AI Search to see the photos that fit it first. Lenses are available on Apple silicon Macs with macOS 15 or later. See Search your photographs.

Can I search before every photo is tagged?

Yes. Filename search works before tagging. Descriptions and scene details become searchable as they are saved. Local AI Search uses the evidence already in your library, so it has more to work with after tagging.

What happens when I unplug a photo drive?

Saved descriptions and names remain searchable. You can browse offline previews if you prepared them while the drive was connected. When the source returns, PhotoFindry checks it automatically and continues eligible waiting work. Jobs and queues you paused stay paused. Library backups and source archives can carry saved details and optional previews, but they do not include your original photographs or model files.

Will it get every detail right?

No model gets every detail right. PhotoFindry keeps uncertain face matches for review, lets you correct names and offers ways to review or retag photo descriptions. A search result is a lead, not a promise about what is in the frame.
